Disclosures and Disclaimers
I write about stocks and other investments. I am not a registered investment advisor and I will not and cannot give personalized investment advice. If you wish for personalized investment advice, please consult with someone who is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). These individuals are qualified to help you; also, find one to whom you pay an hourly fee, to ensure that your advisor has no conflicts of interest. To find a CFP near you, visit the CFP Board’s website.
When I write about a stock that I beneficially own, I will always disclose that fact at the end of an article in which I mention that stock. I will not write about any stock for a period of 48 hours before I trade it to 48 hours after I trade it at my discretion (in other words, the seven day waiting period does not apply to across the board tax selling or broker-mandated trades such as required by a margin violation or a forced buy-in of a short position. Note that I reserve the right to increase a position in a stock I already hold long or short by up to 15% in the week after I mention it. I reserve the right to both buy and sell ETFs and mutual funds about which I write at any time, even if I have just written about such ETFs or mutual funds. I will not necessarily update my stock holdings in a timely manner, so do not construe the appearance of a stock in my portfolio as a recommendation of that stock.
I will never trade based upon knowledge that I have about articles that are not published, at this website or others. I will disclose any conflicts of interest I may have in any stocks about which I write.
I have never been prosecuted for or sued about any securities-related issue, and I have never been barred from the securities industry or convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor. Everything I write on this website I believe to be true. However, I make no guarantees about the accuracy of my statements and I will not necessarily update statements that later turn out to be false.
I post comments about stocks on Twitter and those comments may appear on my blog in a sidebar. My disclosure policy and trading policy does not apply to my posts on Twitter or anywhere else on the internet (such as Motley Fool CAPS and Yahoo! Finance message boards), only my blog itself. The only disclosure policy I will follow when making posts on Motley Fool CAPS or Twitter is to disclose when I hold a position in a stock.
I provide the material on this site for informational purposes only.
